Native to Ecuador. This somewhat epiphytic plant requires moderate to high humidity to thrive as well as consistent moist soil. Over time, it will develop a robust caudex where lance shaped leaves emerge and flowers resemble that often seen on primoses. If condtions are not optimal, it may go dormant. Do not mistaken dormancy for "dead".
