This variety is a specific mutation (often called a "mutant Manjula") that originated from the Poonsin Garden in Thailand. It was first released to the wider market around March 2026.

Unlike the standard Manjula, which has broader, wavy leaves, 'Poonsin' is noted for its high-contrast white striping and creamy patterns that appear "hand-painted" or more "mutated" in appearance.
