- The leaves are thick, leathery, and rugose (wrinkled or rough) giving them a unique, textured appearance reminiscent of pigskin.
- Shape: The leaves are elongated and ovate with distinctly wavy (undulate) margins. They can also exhibit contorted or curled edges.
- Color: The leaves display a bicolored appearance with lighter green hues along the midrib transitioning to darker green
