Senna meridionalis is a slow growing and uncommon shrub native to Madagascar arid region.  Prized by succulent and bonsai collectors, it features a swollen, gnarled base, fine pinnate foliage, and bright yellow flowers. It is classified as vulnerable due to habitat loss.

  • Growth Habit: Dwarf, miniature tree-like shape reaching \(2-3\) meters. It has a pachycaulous (thickened, woody) trunk and naturally develops a bonsai-like appearance.
  • Flowers: Bright yellow and clustered, blooming in late spring or summer.

 

  • Light: sun
  • Soil: well draining mix
  • Water: slightly moist but drier during winter months
  • Fertilizer: slow release
