Coleus is a genus of flowering plants in the mint family that are native to the tropics and subtropics of Asia, Australia, and other regions. Coleus plants are known for their colorful leaves, which come in a variety of colors, patterns, and shapes. They can be grown as annuals or perennials, and can grow in full sun, partial shade, or full shade. Coleus plants prefer well-drained soil with a pH of 6-7, and should be planted outdoors when soil temperatures are above 60°F. In summer, they are great in hanging or mixed planters. You can grow them indoors but they will need bright indirect exposure and trim to keep compact.
