Eucalyptus plants grow quickly, adding 6–12 feet of new growth each year. Many gardeners treat container eucalyptus plants as annuals, starting with new plants each year to keep them4 manageable as houseplants and on balconies and decks. Eucalyptus plants don't like their roots to be disturbed, so it's best to start with a large container to avoid having to repot. A 5-gallon container is a good size.
Eucalyptus plants can be harvested in late summer after allowing growth to "harden" on the plant.
